The waterfall is undoubtedly the most beautiful and favored feature in a water garden. If space is lacking in your yard or you have safety concerns with a pond ask your contractor for a Disappearing (Pondless) Waterfall! The name basically explains it all. It’s a waterfall and stream, without the pond.
So What Items Come Standard For Disappearing Waterfalls?
1) Waterfall Pump Vault
Not too big and not too small, the expandability of the Disappearing (Pondless) Waterfall Pump Vault makes this filter perfectly sized to meet the need of any Disappearing (Pondless) Waterfall project.
- Pump Vaults house and protect the pumps and plumbing of underground water storage and circulation systems
- Vaults are rotomolded of virtually indestructible polyethylene for long, worry-free service
- Extremely strong low profile vault lids fit all sizes, support gravel and foot traffic and can be removed without gravel falling in
- Pump vault extensions increase the height of the vault in deeper, larger basins.
- Some vaults can accommodate two or more pumps for versatility
2) Underlayment Fabric & EPDM Liner
Underlayment is a geotextile fabric used to protect the liner of your water feature. It is placed underneath the liner to add puncture resistance to the liner. All roots, rocks, and other debris should be cleared, as much as possible, prior to laying the underlayment. It also can be used or doubled up, where large rocks are going to be placed, below and on top of the liner.
EPDM Liner is the industries workhorse for making sure your water feature holds water. It is hard to have a successful water feature if you do not start with a quality liner.
WIM Supply, in Houston, TX, offers the finest underlayment, liner and accessories, including genuine Carlisle AquaTough 45mil EPDM Liner and Firestone 45 mil EPDM Liner.
3) Matrix Block Water Storage Units
- Water matrix blocks installed in lined excavations create weight-bearing underground water storage reservoirs
- Small Matrix Blocks (27″x16″x9″), are approximately half the size of Large Matrix Blocks (27″x16″x17 1/2″), and offer more design options with less excavation time and effort
- Arrange modular blocks in any configuration with any number of layers to accommodate almost any design
- Excellent for bog construction to create settling chambers below natural plantings of active bog filters
4)Pump or Circulation System
A properly sized pump is extremely important for the aesthetics of a water feature. More importantly, an efficient circulation system will keep the water moving and provide the necessary oxygen levels for healthy fish and plants.
Choosing the right pump for your pond is often one of the most intimidating and important decisions that you will have to make. When shopping for pond pumps, don’t get fooled by a cheap price. Buy a pump specifically designed for pond use. Remember, unlike pond lights, your pond or water garden pump will need to run 24 hours a day.
5) The Waterfall Spillway
The Waterfall Spillway is a versatile tool that can be used in a wide variety of water feature applications. You may find that your imagination is the only limitation to what you can create with the Waterfall Spillway.
- Spillway boxes diffuse incoming water flow to create the starting point of streams and waterfalls
- Spillways allow for easier plumbing at the top of waterfalls and streams
- Spillway lip retains rock, gravel, mulch or soil and can be planted to blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape
- Water enters the spillway and spreads evenly over the width of the the spillway lip
- Gravel can be used on the inside of spillway to ensure a natural looking waterfall
Features:
- Simplifies plumbing layouts and installations
- Works with all Schedule 40 PVC fittings
- Sun, ozone and mildew resistant (Note: we do not recommend placing flexible PVC pipe in continuous sunlight)
